Description
This set of seven pieces was composed during the early part of 2013. The work which serves as the inspiration will most likely need no introduction to the listener.
The title, Blue Spring Transformations, reflects the way in which the pieces have been composed. Unlike a conventional set of variations, which takes a complete melody or harmonic structure and re-uses and changes it, these pieces take some musical ideas from the inspiring work together with the composer's own material, and develops them together. Some ideas are restated almost literally in consecutive pieces, and other ideas are referred to and developed, producing a unity across the work as a whole.
